Cast UK take on the Great Manchester Run

Blog

We are running to raise money for the housing and homelessness charity, Shelter. For many of our team living and working in the centre of Manchester, we have noticed the steady increase in the numbers of homeless on the streets in the last few years. Figures from Shelter also show that there are more than 170 homeless households in Manchester, these people are not necessarily on streets but are families with no home of their own, living in emergency accommodation. The issue of homelessness was brought into sharp focus at the end of last year when two of our directors found a homeless man collapsed on the street on a busy Saturday afternoon in the city centre, with shoppers walking by him without a second glance. Unfortunately, we don’t know what happened to him after the paramedics took him to the hospital with a suspected heart attack. In this homeless man’s memory and in support of the other people struggling on the streets, we have decided to enter a team to take on the Great Manchester Run to help this excellent charity change the lives of the homeless for the better. It’s going to take a lot of hard work and training in advance of the big day and we would be grateful of any support towards our efforts by sponsoring our team. Donations can be made towards this cause easily and securely through our JustGiving page online. All details and payments are safe with JustGiving and once donations have been made they are sent straight to the charity.
