Cast UK hosts Think Logistics meeting to help build the talent pathway

We were thrilled to host a meeting at our Manchester HQ to discuss Think Logistics and Career Ready plans for The Skills Show at the NEC in November. Working with Career Ready, Think Logistics was originally the brainchild of Steve Granite, managing director of Abbey Logistics Group in Liverpool. Keen to bridge a growing skills gap and encourage young people into Logistics and Transport, Steve and other leading figures from the sector have come together under the Think Logistics banner to help drive awareness of logistics as a rewarding career choice, by engaging with schools, colleges and universities. We welcomed Neil Caldwell (Think Logistics Project Manager, Career Ready), Ian Nichol (National STEM Development Manager Career Ready), Matthew Chamberlain (Mersey Travel), Adam Albones (Mersey Travel Intern), Jim French (PD Port Centric Logistics), Mick Skerrett (Manpower) and Simon Reynish (CILT Chair NW) to our Jordan Street office in Manchester to get our heads together and discuss how to make a big splash at the show, where more than 70000 school students will be considering their range of career options.. As an industry worth more around £96 billion per year, logistics offers a host of opportunities for all levels of seniority and experience, from drivers to directors. It is anticipated the industry will need more than 450,000 new people over the next five years so it’s important that it is recognised as a rewarding career choice among those leaving education.
