Three courses help St Maries Vikings to a fundraising triumph

Blog

Widnes St Maries Vikings got a financial boost from a golf day last Friday, 23 August, of which Cast UK was a sponsor. The event started with bacon rolls and after the golf there was a two-course meal at the Worsley Park Marriott Hotel at the heart of the country club. Prize donors to the raffle included Manchester United and Widnes Vikings, who offered signed shirts. St Maries Vikings is a community rugby club in Widnes that is connected to the world-famous Widnes Vikings RLFC. It has a long history, dating back to 1937, and has a reputation for feeding players into the top-flight game, not only for the Widnes side. As well as having several competitive rugby teams for young people, they have a strong community presence, promoting fitness and teamwork in schools. Cast UK is a recruitment consultancy based in Manchester. They operate only in the supply chain, logistics and procurement fields at managerial and executive level, and this focus has gained the growing company a strong foothold in the recruitment sector. They started sponsoring St Maries Vikings in February and have strong links with the club, which is one of several causes they actively support. Wayne Brophy, Cast UK’s founder and Group Managing Director, reflected on the event, which attracted corporate names such as RIA Solutions, SLC, RBS, Crown Paints and Typhoo. “First I’d like to thank everyone for supporting St Maries Vikings by coming to this event, which we are now hoping to make an annual event,” he said. “But that’s not to say it wasn’t an immense pleasure. All those who took part spoke of how enjoyable it was. And we might even have seen the next Rory McIlroy taking part!” For more information on St Maries Vikings, visit http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/stmariesvikings/.
